Teddy Adams

Teddy was born into the construction business. Floyd Adams (Teddy’s Father) was one of the first drywall tradesmen in Nashville in the late 1940’s.

At around eleven years of age, Teddy started working in drywall with his immediate family. At the age of sixteen, he began subcontracting drywall work. In 1979, “Teddy Adams Drywall” was formed. This company was very successful, and Teddy did drywall work all over middle Tennessee and Kentucky.

Around 1986, Teddy and his brother Danny began building homes. That became his full time occupation in 1995 with the creation of “Superior Homes and Construction”. Teddy built homes all over the Middle Tennessee area in subdivisions such as: Country Hills, Long Hollow Pointe, Brandywine Pointe, and Brandywine Harbor just to name a few.

Early 2002 marked Teddy’s transition to land development when he met Michael Shular. Since that time Teddy has developed two of Sumner county’s finest developments: Somerset Downs and Drakes Pointe.

Jon Zwart

Jon Zwart got involved in construction not long after meeting Teddy’s daughter Tiffany. In the summer of 1997, Jon began working for Teddy, taking care of jobsite clean up. Gradually Jon learned the custom home business from the ground up, as Teddy mentored him about the fundamentals of building a quality home. Shortly after marrying Tiffany, Jon felt the call to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps.

Jon and Tiffany spent five years in the Corps, and in October 2006 the Zwart family moved back to Tennessee. In December of 2006, Adams Family Builders was formed. The timing was perfect as Teddy was moving toward development, and Jon was licensed and ready to take over the newly formed custom home business.

Since the creation of the company, Teddy has been a valuable mentor and investor in the construction business for Jon. We are a company that has deep roots in the construction business, and a good standing in the communities that we build and live in.

When building a custom home for someone we make the process smooth and enjoyable for the homeowner by utilizing organized progress checklists and pictures of each phase of construction. You will not find Jon building your home from his truck, but, instead, he is on the job daily from start to finish.
